If we were having coffee right now… I’d tell you that we’re going to a High School Football game to watch my nephew play in the band. He may look exactly like my brother but his interests and talents are less jock and more nerd. I love this kid so much. He’s growing up so fast!
If we were having coffee right now… We would have to talk about the lunatics in the Republican party. Sure I usually disagree with most of their party platform but this year, lord, this year it’s just nuts. With a self-aggrandizing delusional reality TV star as the front runner?! I don’t have to agree with all American’s to at least see where they are coming from, but seriously… Trump? This is well beyond race baiting and being sick of politicians. This is scary.
If we were having coffee right now… I’d tell you I’m about two weeks away from a family vacation. My parents just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary so what better time to get everyone together for a week in a confined space? It should be interesting.
If we were having coffee right now… I’d tell you about my cousin’s suicide and how strangely and deeply it upset my brother and how I hope to re-connect with him on our trip. How worried I am for him.
If we were having coffee right now… I’d thank you for having coffee with me with all this crazy shit going on in my life and for offering a sympathetic ear. My friends are really the best.
Number 1-I feel your frustration on the dementia/Alzheimer’s. My mom is going through the same struggle right now and it is not easy at all. On everyone.
Number 3-Oh how right you are. I just wrote my own blog about some of my frustrations with this country right now. Not in terms of specific parties or politicians, though the billionaire I shall not name is part of it. But more in terms of how badly we communicate with each other now. We post memes that sum up our thoughts instead of actually having rational discourse with someone with an opposing viewpoint. There is no such thing as it anymore actually.
Number 4,5,6-We all got together last weekend for my parents 52nd Anniversary. It was nice, but a little odd at the same time, though we weren’t dealing with anything like your brother seems to be.I hope it goes well.
Oh man, I wish I was having coffee with you now. I’m sorry about your dad and your cousin. I can’t even imagine how that feels. Give your mom lots of love, being a caregiver is the hardest job you can have, especially when it’s someone you love. We cared for my father at home until he passed way in ’09. I hope the family vacation brings everyone together, not just physically but in a spirit of love. xo
thanks, it will be nothing if not interesting … lol
Just tipped my travel mug to you! What a multi-textured, wonderful, horrible time it is for you right now–but what a really nice way of sharing it. You gave us the joy and the heartache, and it’s so nice you can feel the joy still, even when the heartache’s very real. Thanks for the coffee time!
Pam
I just keep remembering ‘this too shall pass’ 🙂
I am sorry about your dad and your cousin. But I am glad that you have a family vacation to look forward to. I wish you a lot of joy from that trip!
Thank you for the coffee break….! 🙂
Kelli, your statement “this too shall pass” is consoling.
it’s one offered to me many a time =]
I seriously need some more uplifting or amusing posts, my god what a downer I’ve been the last couple of days!!
If we were having coffee, i would offer you a mug of loose leaf tea out of the teapot I got for my birthday, and we would both feel a little civilized during our conversation about life and loss (I lost a friend/life-long mentor this week) and frustrations and finding good in the midst of sorrow.
That sounds lovely. I’m taking the attitude that sorrow should be a catalyst to take advantage of life’s opportunity while you can. Whether it’s reminding family and friends that you love them or pursuing your own dreams.
Coffee helps…and writing about our troubles helps, too, right? Hang in there -:)
Thanks!
